HONOLULU, Hawaii – The Mississippi Valley State University men's basketball program might have suffered from some jet lag on their long journey from The Sip to the islands as they were defeated in the Rainbow Classic opener against the host Hawaii by a score of 88-56.

Delta Devils' Top Performers:Â
- The reigning SWAC Player and Newcomer of the Week, Michael James, was held in check for most of the night but still managed to lead the Devils regarding points (11) and assists (3).
- Patrick Punch was not far behind his teammate on the scoring totem pole, cracking double-digits with ten points including a pair of threes while being one of four players to tie for the steals title at two.
- Chance Sutton cleaned up in the post on his way to a team-high five rebounds, despite only playing 14 minutes, stealing a pass in that timeframe too.
- Delkedric Holmes stood beside James as the co-leaders of the assist (3) and steal (2) categories whereas Lamont Sams plus Samuel Murray deserve mentions by combining for 16 points, six boards, the team's only two blocks, a pair of steals, and an assist.
