Mississippi Valley State University's standout freshman pitcher Logan Darnell has been chosen to compete in the prestigious MLB HBCU Swingman Classic on Friday, July 11. This elite All-Star showcase features 50 of the top HBCU baseball players in the nation and will take place at Truist Park, home of the Atlanta Braves. The game is scheduled for 6 p.m. Central and will be broadcast live on MLB Network and the MLB App.
Darnell made a name for himself in his debut season, leading the Delta Devils in nearly every major pitching category:
- 57 innings pitched
- 3 victories
- 6.44 ERA
- 49 strikeouts
- 17 appearances
He also earned academic honors by being named to the 2024–2025 SWAC Commissioner's Honor Roll.
Senior shortstop Kade Wood was also selected to the team but will not participate. Wood ended the season with a .331 batting average, 7 home runs, 13 stolen bases, and a team-leading 53 hits.
