ITTA BENA, Miss. — Mississippi Valley State University is introducing changes to its 2025 football game day experience, including a new tailgating location and pricing structure aimed at improving safety, security, and fan enjoyment.

Beginning this season, tailgating for the three regular home games will move from in front of Rice-Totten Stadium to the lake area near Leflore Hall. The change will open up the stadium front for a new Kid's Zone and Fan Zone, featuring inflatables, interactive activities, and vendor booths.

For homecoming, tailgating will return to its traditional location in front of the stadium and down Fannie Lou Hamer Street.

"Our top priority is creating a game day that is both safe and enjoyable for all fans," said Dr. Alecia Shields-Gadson, Director of Athletics. "Relocating tailgating allows us to improve security, reduce congestion, and add new family-friendly activities. Barricades will secure the lake area, traffic to general parking will be routed to nearby lots, and accessible parking will be available with golf cart transportation provided for guests who need assistance."

In addition to enhancing the fan experience, this move is designed to alleviate congestion along Fannie Lou Hamer Street and ensure adequate parking accommodations for students and campus residents.

Tailgating Equipment Drop-Off:
The times listed below apply only to equipment drop-off at the Fannie Lou Hamer Street entrance for Greek plots. There is no equipment or set-up cutoff time for tailgating at the lake. Vehicles are not permitted to remain in Greek plot areas after drop-off. Greek organizations using grills will be subject to the tailgating fee, and ATVs are not allowed.

·      MVSU vs Southern University – Tailgate equipment cutoff time: 1 p.m. | Game time: 4 p.m.

• MVSU vs Texas Southern – Tailgate equipment cutoff time: 1 p.m. | Game time: 4 p.m.
• Homecoming – Tailgate equipment cutoff time: 11 a.m. | Game time: 2 p.m.
• MVSU vs Jackson State – Tailgate equipment cutoff time: 11 a.m. | Game time: 2 p.m.
