PRAIRIE VIEW, Texas – The Mississippi Valley State University men's basketball program had a chance to send the game into overtime at Prairie View A&M, however, an offensive foul on the Delta Devils and the subsequent made free throw by the Panthers rendered the made three-pointer at the horn a moot point as MVSU experienced a heartbreaking 70-69 defeat.

- Daniel Mayfield produced his second double-double of the season by going for 20 points and ten rebounds, a team-high in the former, doing so by shooting 8-of-13 (61.5%) from the court.
- Patrick Punch nearly joined his teammate in the double-double club, notching a season and game-best 11 rebounds plus a personal record of four assists to front Valley in both statistics while falling a point shy of double-figures.
- Lamont Sams swatted down the squad's lone block on top of 11 points and seven boards.
- Michael James extended his scoring streak of ten or more to 17 consecutive contests, shooting 63.6% (7-for-11) for a stellar 19 points, knocking down half of his six three balls as well.
