BATON ROUGE, La. – The Mississippi Valley State University men's basketball program took a three-point lead (65-62) with 7:16 remaining in the second half but would fall into a six-minute scoring funk, allowing the Southern Jaguars to peel off a 13-0 run and eventually escape with an 80-69 final decision.

- Daniel Mayfield was an absolute stud, collecting a season/game-high 15 rebounds (10 in the first half alone) in addition to 18 points on 8-for-16 (50%) shooting as he put together his fourth double-double of the year along with the Devils' one blocked shot.

- Michael James did his usual scoring thing, leading all student-athletes on either team at 23 points as well as seeing all 40 minutes of action.

- Xzayvion Childress also played every second of the contest, turning it into 16 points and a club-best five assists, going 5-of-9 (55.6%) on top of 3-of-6 (50%) from downtown.

- X'Zaevion Barnett was the only player not named Mayfield for Coach Ivory's bunch to log at least five points and boards apiece, registering seven and six, respectively.
