Diamond Devils Have Sights Set on Birmingham Heading Into 2026

2026 Baseball Schedule

Baseball | 1/6/2026 2:00:00 PM

ITTA BENA, Miss. – The Mississippi Valley State baseball program is confident that Head Coach CJ Bilbrey's squad can return to the SWAC Tournament for the first time since 2018, showcasing their talents across the Deep South with games in Missouri, Tennessee, Alabama, Mississippi, and Texas alongside just under 20 home dates (18 total).

The men from Valley will need to be road warriors, especially early in the slate, as the Delta Devils will spend the first 38 days away from campus beginning with a season-opening four-game weekend series at Stephen F. Austin (February 13-15).

That extended road trip will start in Nacogdoches before making pit stops at Jacksonville State (February 24-25), a round-robin tournament in Jackson versus UNC Asheville, Alcorn, and JSU (February 27-March 1), Tennessee-Martin (March 6-8), New Orleans (March 10), the first SWAC series at Arkansas-Pine Bluff (March 13-15), Lindenwood (March 17-18), and finally, Texas Southern (March 20-22).

At long last, Valley State will get a chance to play in front of the Diamond Devils' faithful inside Magnolia Field on Tuesday, March 24 for a doubleheader against the Lane Dragons with a 1 p.m. first pitch.

Following the home-opening twin-bill, the Green and White will remain in the delta for an addition five more contests in the friendly confines with three against Alabama A&M (March 27-29) and one apiece opposite Southwest Baptist (March 31) plus Rust (April 1).

Between April 2 and April 7, MVSU will be away from Itta Bena but not as far as before, taking in a weekend set at Alcorn (April 2-4) and a mid-week showdown at Louisiana-Monroe (April 7).

Mid-April will be a gauntlet for the guys as they host the defending SWAC regular season champion Bethune-Cookman (April 10-11), then head to Memphis to take on the Tigers (April 14), before heading to Tallahassee for a date with the reigning SWAC Tournament champions from Florida A&M (April 17-19).

A reprieve of sorts awaits back home on Wednesday, April 22 against the NAIA's Crowley's Ridge, but another powerhouse program looms again as its back on the buses for a three-game series at Alabama State (April 24-26).

The home stretch to begin May will be exactly that, on-campus, welcoming both Southern University (May 1-3) and Jackson State University (May 8-10) to Valley with a second bus ride to ULM in the middle (May 5) as Senior Day is scheduled for 1 p.m. on Sunday, May 10 versus JSU.

The penultimate series of the regular season will go down in Prairie View, Texas via a tussle with the Panthers from May 14-16.

If all goes according to plan, legendary Rickwood Field will be the destination for the Diamond Devils from May 20-24 for the 2026 SWAC Baseball Tournament.
