JACKSON, Miss. — Freshman
Colton Harris led the Mississippi Valley State University men's cross country team Saturday at the Belhaven Invitational as the Delta Devils earned a ninth-place team finish in the 8,000-meter race.
Harris was the first Valley runner across the finish line, placing 62nd overall with a time of 34:57.9. His performance highlighted an MVSU lineup that featured five freshmen among its seven competitors.
Freshman
Ethan Dorris followed with a 72nd-place finish, clocking 38:00.4, while fellow freshman
Luis Rios Hernandez crossed immediately behind him in 73rd with a time of 38:06.6.
Darrien Brigance, also a freshman, finished 85th in 41:59.4. Junior
Malachi Finley completed Valley's scoring five with an 86th-place showing and a time of 42:07.1.
Sophomore
Calon Moore finished 87th in 42:16.3, while junior
Justus Snapp rounded out the MVSU contingent in 89th place with a time of 46:15.8.
Mississippi Valley State totaled 253 points to finish ninth in the team standings. The Delta Devils' top five combined for a total time of 3:15:12 with an average time of 39:03.
