HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – The Mississippi Valley State University men's basketball program shot its best game (percentage-wise) from distance (60%, 6-of-10) and the defense allowed its fewest assists of the season (9), but a 17-6 run by the Bulldogs midway through the second half took some wind out of the Delta Devils' sails as Valley fell short, 72-65.

- Patrick Punch came back strong after missing the past three contests, going 4-of-9 (44.4%) and 12 points with four boards, a steal and an assist.
- Michael James poured in over 20 points for the fifth straight game, leading all players at 21 via 6-for-12 (50%) shooting and 4-of-5 (80%) treys, stealing two passes, registering two dimes, and claiming four rebounds.
- Daniel Mayfield led MVSU on the glass (7) and defensively (three steals) in addition to producing 16 points plus a trio of assists.
