MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Mississippi Valley State University softball program started strong by scoring twice in the bottom of the first to take a 2-0 lead, but the Lincoln (Pennsylvania) Lions put the final six runs on the board to win the HBCU Celebration Classic finale, 6-2.

Diamond Devilettes' Top Performers:
- Hailey Akers as responsible for two of the four hits, claiming a double plus a single while driving in a run.
- Madison Bruce came in out of the bullpen and struck out seven batters over the final four frames, allowing just two runs smattered across four base runners.
- Michelle Diaz reached safely in all five games in Montgomery, keeping the on-base streak active via a pair of walks, scoring once.
- Jamiyah Gary logged the second extra-base hit, a two-bagger, and drew a free pass whereas Taniya Partee cashed in a single alongside a base on balls and a run scored.
Next:
- It will be nearly two weeks before the squad returns to the field as its next game is on Friday, March 6 at 3 p.m. against Alabama State in what constitutes as the SWAC and home opener.
