Haynes Goes Yard Twice To Lead Valley To Comeback Win At UNO

Box Score

NEW ORLEANS, La. – The Mississippi Valley State University baseball program rode the powerful swing of Jaxon Haynes, whose solo shot in the seventh pulled MVSU within one (7-6), and then his three-run bomb in the eighth, put the Devils in front for good to provide the winning / final margin, 9-7.

It was Valley's second non-conference win of its past three games, the first time the team has claimed multiple wins against schools not in the SWAC since defeating both Louisiana-Monroe and Illinois-Chicago back in 2015.

Diamond Devils' Top Performers:

  • Haynes could not be stopped, only contained (once), wreaking havoc by going 4-for-5 with a pair of round-trippers and two singles, driving home four of his teammates and scoring three times as well.

  • Five separate pitchers put a goose egg on the scoreboard during their inning of work with Daniel Scott registering his first career win and Camden Farmer locking down his first save at the four-year level.

  • Tom Early was the epitome of patience, coaxing three walks in five plate appearances while holding his own with a knock when he did put the bat in motion.

  • Eric Williams was the only other MVSU student-athlete to tally a multi-hit day (2-for-5), adding a ribbie and a score.

  • Dylan Hummel provided an extra-base hit (double) out of the lead off spot and Tanner Aoki drew a pair of bases on balls.
