Bruce Twirls A Game Two Gem In Defeat

 
LORMAN, Miss. – The Mississippi Valley State University softball program held the Alcorn offense in check for most of the afternoon but the bats from Itta Bena never quite got going in a pair of setbacks, 6-0 and 5-1.

Diamond Devils' Top Performers (Game 1):
 
  • Jamiyah Gary was primarily the offense in game one, being responsible for two of the team's three hits and their lone extra-base knock (double).
 
  • Devyn Dotson was the other player to get a hit by singling and also walked once as well.
   
Diamond Devils' Top Performers (Game 2):
 
  • Madison Bruce gave her Diamond Devils a chance to win, striking out four Braves for her most in a game against an NCAA Division I opponent this year, going the distance and ceding just three earned runs, walking only one.
 
  • Kynard was unstoppable in the nightcap, reaching all three times she came up to the plate with a trio of singles and scored the lone run of the day thanks to an Alcorn error.
 
  • Partee went 1-for-2, Kelsey Kaluna-Thomas put a single in the stat sheet, and Diaz poked a seeing-eye single too, rounding out the contributors.

  • The Green and White will get to play on television for the first time this season when they play at Jackson State on Friday at 5 p.m. with coverage provided by SWAC TV.
