MARTIN, Tenn. – The Mississippi Valley State University baseball program has knocked off an NCAA Division I opponent in non-SWAC competition for the first time since 2017 as they grounded the Tennessee-Martin Skyhawks, 5-3.
The last time the Diamond Devils beat a foe from outside of the conference ranks was February 22, 2017 at Arkansas State, 10-9.

Diamond Devils' Top Performers:
- Jace Jones came up big in the clutch for the Green and White, lacing a two-out, two-run single into centerfield for the go-ahead scores in the top of the ninth alongside a walk and a run scored earlier in the game.
- The trio of Kobe Ladd, Brock Lenhardt, and Gage Deutsch combined to shut down the UTM offense from the fifth inning onward, giving up no runs on just three hits and just one walk in addition to three strikeouts.
- Lenhardt earned his first career win at a four-year institution while the freshman Deutsch collected his first collegiate save.
- Tanner Aoki was the only player for Valley to log multiple hits (both singles), getting a pair of ribbies on one of those on top of a walk plus a steal.
- Eric Williams (single and walk), Israel Ramos (walk and hit-by-pitch), and Aiden Meyer (single and hit-by-pitch) were the others to reach base safely more than once.
