LORMAN, Miss. – The Mississippi Valley State University baseball program has broken even in Southwestern Athletic Conference competition for the first time since 2022 after dispatching the Alcorn Braves for the third consecutive game, 13-10.
The last instance in which the Diamond Devils were at or above the .500 mark in league action was four seasons ago when they opened at 2-1 while MVSU tallied a second SWAC sweep in a single year for the first time since 2009.

Diamond Devils' Top Performers:
- Tanner Aoki set the table brilliantly, taking what was given to him at the top of the lineup by coaxing four walks plus singling as he eventually scored three vital runs.
- Cody Leming also reached safely five times but did his damage by going 3-for-4 with a two-bagger, a trio of scores, two ribbies, and a pair of free passes.
- Chris Brown became the first Devils reliever to hammer down multiple saves in 2026, collecting his second less than a week apart from his first, by working around a bases loaded and nobody out situation that he inherited.
- Tom Early continues his stretch of driving runs in by the bunches, clubbing a two-RBI triple as well as a two-RBI single.
- Both Chris Soeder and Gabe Huelsing registered multi-hit affairs as the duo combined to cross the plate thrice, the former adding a RBI to his line thanks to a double.
