HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – Mississippi Valley State University volleyball will officially open its 2026 campaign this weekend at the Betty Austin Invitational, hosted by Alabama A&M University in Huntsville, Alabama.

The Delta Devils will compete in three matches over two days, beginning Friday, August 28, against South Carolina State at 2pm. MVSU will return to the court later that evening for an 6pm matchup against UMES before concluding the tournament Saturday, August 29, against the Delaware State at 8am.

The season-opening tournament marks the beginning of a new chapter for the Delta Devils under head coach Shay Ashford. MVSU enters the season focused on building team chemistry, competing with discipline and establishing a strong foundation for the schedule ahead.

Facing three programs during the opening weekend will provide the Delta Devils with an early opportunity to evaluate their progress and gain valuable experience before returning to Mississippi for the next stage of their nonconference schedule.

Friday, August 28
MVSU vs. South Carolina State – 2pm
MVSU vs. UMES – 6pm

Saturday, August 29
MVSU vs. Delaware State – 8am

All matches will be played in Huntsville, Alabama.
