Arlo Henderson serves as Defensive Consultant and Co-Special Teams Coordinator for Mississippi Valley State University football, bringing extensive experience in coaching, player development, game planning, talent evaluation and organizational leadership to the Delta Devils program.

In his current role, Henderson assists the defensive staff with opponent analysis, game planning and weekly preparation while helping coordinate the Delta Devils’ special teams units. He also supports the head coach and football program in additional areas as assigned.

Henderson has served in several roles during his tenure at Mississippi Valley State, including General Manager, Special Teams Coordinator, Running Backs Coach and Wide Receivers Coach. His coaching background also includes experience as a head coach and offensive coordinator, providing him with a comprehensive understanding of offensive, defensive and special teams football.

In 2026, Henderson was selected to participate in the NFL’s Bill Walsh Diversity Coaching Fellowship with the Seattle Seahawks. During the fellowship, he gained firsthand experience with NFL meetings, film study, practice preparation, player development, special teams operations and professional coaching methods. Henderson is also a graduate of the NCAA/NFL Coaches Academy, a professional development program designed to prepare coaches for advancement within the profession.

Henderson’s impact at MVSU has extended beyond the field. In his previous role as General Manager, his responsibilities included recruiting strategy, roster management, scholarship allocation, talent evaluation, player personnel and assisting with the professional development and exposure of NFL prospects.

As a position coach, Henderson has worked extensively with both running backs and wide receivers. His work with special teams also helped develop an All-SWAC kicker who established an MVSU school record with a 57-yard field goal.

Prior to entering collegiate football full-time, Henderson accumulated more than 25 years of corporate leadership experience, including vice president-level positions in banking and financial services. His corporate background continues to shape his approach to leadership, communication, strategic planning, talent development and building high-performing teams.

Henderson also previously served as an NFLPA Certified Contract Advisor, working with professional football prospects, scouts, personnel executives and other members of the professional football community. That experience provides him with additional insight into talent evaluation, professional preparation and helping student-athletes understand the transition from college football to the professional level.

In addition to his football responsibilities, Henderson serves as the inaugural Head Women’s Flag Football Coach at Mississippi Valley State University. He is responsible for building the program from its foundation, including recruiting, player development, culture, competitive preparation and long-term program development.

Henderson holds a Master of Business Administration and approaches coaching with a leadership philosophy centered on developing people, establishing clear standards, teaching the game and creating consistent habits that prepare student-athletes and teams to perform at their best when it matters most.
