Darien Moody

Darien Moody is in his first season with Mississippi Valley State, and will coach the Delta Devils’ defensive front. He will also act as Valley’s recruiting coordinator.

Prior to his time at Valley, he served as a graduate assistant/defensive line coach for Southern Miss in 2018 and his alma mater, Alcorn State, in 2017. At Southern Miss, he worked with the #3 defense in football as the Golden Eagles went 6-5. During his season coaching at Alcorn, the Braves went 7-4 and made it to the SWAC Championship game.

A native of Columbus, Ohio and a product of Gahanna Lincoln High School, Moody originally committed to Marshall in 2011 and played a season to Mesa CC in Arizona in 2012 before transferring to SWAC rival Alcorn State prior to the 2013 season. He competed in 38 games at defensive end for the Braves over three seasons, registering 102 tackles, 15 sacks and forcing five fumbles. While in Lorman, the Braves won a SWAC Championship in 2014 with a 10-3 record and an appearance in the inaugural Celebration Bowl, following that with a 9-4 mark in 2015. His efforts landed him a spot on the All-SWAC First Team in his junior and senior years.

Moody graduated from Alcorn State in 2016 with a bachelor’s in business administration.
