Jalen Samuel

Coach Samuel comes to the Mississippi Delta with a championship pedigree entering his first year on staff as the Offensive Line Coach. He spent the 2022 season as the Defensive Line Coach / Head Track & Field Coach at Gardendale High School (AL), making an AHSAA 6A 3rd Round State Playoff Appearance. There, Samuel coached one of the Top 50 2023 prospects in the country 4-Star Kelby Collins, who went on to win the Under Armor All-American Game MVP, play in the Alabama vs. Mississippi All-Star Game, and early enroll at the University of Florida. Samuel spent the 2021 season under the tutelage of legendary NFL Alum and Heisman Trophy Winner Coach Eddie George and Coach Hue Jackson at Tennessee State University as the Assistant Offensive Line Coach. With Samuel’s developmental assistance, 2 TSU Offensive Linemen received Ohio Valley Conference Postseason Awards: Robert Lacey (OVC 1st Team Offense) and Jeremiah Frazier (OVC All-Newcomer Team). Prior to a brief stint as the Assistant Offensive Line Coach at the University of North Alabama during the 2020 COVID season, Samuel spent the 2019 season as the Cornerbacks Coach / Video Coordinator at the University of West Florida. UWF completed a historic Cinderella Story, making the NCAA Division II Playoffs unseeded, and winning four straight road games to go on to win the 2019 NCAA Division II National Championship against Minnesota State-Mankato. Samuel served as the Head Defensive Student Assistant from 2017-2019 at Troy University, primarily working with Cornerbacks under the regime of Coach Neal Brown, and shortly for Coach Chip Lindsey. During his tenure at TROY, he accumulated: two bowl wins 2018 Dollar General Bowl defeating Buffalo, the 2017 New Orleans Bowl defeating North Texas; a 2017 Sun Belt Conference Championship; and two Power 5 road victories over LSU in 2017 and Nebraska in 2018. Samuel is a Spring 2019 graduate of Troy University with a Bachelor of Science in Hospitality, Sport, and Tourism Management and a Minor in Global Business. He also holds his Master of Science in Sport and Recreation Management from the University of North Alabama. Samuel is a native of Tuscaloosa, AL. The former Offensive Lineman was a 4-year Starter at Paul W. Bryant High School and has accumulated 3 total AHSAA State Playoff Appearances in football as a player/coach. He also is a 2013 AHSAA 5A Track & Field State Champion.
