Jared Burton ws hired as the Wide Receivers Coach in July 2022 for his 11th season coaching at the college level and 15th year overall.
Burton spent last fall at Mississippi Gulf Coast CC working with special teams and running backs while handling all football operations while most recently he was hired at Cisco College as Offensive Coordinator and Quarterbacks Coach along with operations.
In 2019, he coached wide receivers at Augustana in Sioux Falls, South Dakota while mentoring All-NSIC First Team selection Sean Engle as the Vikings made an appearance in the NCAA Division II Playoffs.
This will be his second stint at the FCS level, having worked in the Big Sky Conference at Northern Colorado and having coached wide receivers,offensive line/tight ends and special teams. Burton also has prior experience in the HBCU world after working as Quarterbacks and Pass Game Coordinator at Kentucky State.
Burton previously coached wide receivers at Fort Lewis College while handling all video and travel operations.
He grew up the son of well-known New Mexico High School coach Joe Burton, playing quarterback after high school at New Mexico Military Institute before eventually becoming a walk-on quarterback at UTEP.
After his stint in El Paso, he graduated from Northern Colorado with a degree in sports and exercise science before taking his first coaching job at Denver East High School for three years as Offensive Coordinator and Quarterbacks Coach.
