Kelvin Smith serves as the Defensive Coordinator, Co-Special Teams Coordinator and Linebackers Coach for the Mississippi Valley State University football program.
In his role as defensive coordinator, Smith oversees the overall direction and development of the Delta Devils’ defensive unit, including game planning, scheme implementation, player development and in-game adjustments. He works closely with the defensive staff to prepare the unit each week while emphasizing discipline, fundamentals, physical play and execution.
Smith also has direct responsibility for the MVSU linebackers, overseeing their position development, technique and preparation. His work with the position group plays an important role in the Delta Devils’ ability to defend both the running and passing game.
In addition to his defensive responsibilities, Smith serves as co-special teams coordinator, assisting with the preparation, organization and execution of Mississippi Valley State’s special teams units.
Smith is a member of head coach Terrell Buckley’s staff and continues to play an integral role in the development of the Delta Devils on the field.
