Aaron Stevens

Aaron Stevens is entering his seventh season as the head baseball coach for Mississippi Valley State University. Stevens served the baseball team from Fall 2000 to Fall 2014 as the Head Assistant Coach under Doug Shanks. During that period Stevens help guide the Delta Devils to 253 wins, including a 39 win season in 2004 and 20 plus win seasons in 2003, 2006, 2009, 2010. Stevens also served as the strength and conditioning coach for baseball, women’s basketball, and volleyball. From 2004 to 2014 he also served as an admissions assistant. During his time under Doug Shanks, Stevens had the privilege to coach three shortstops that were selected in the MLB draft in Tee Thomas, Zach Penprase, and Jeffrey Squire. Kalik May was drafted his first year as the head coach in 2015. Stevens has had players to place in the top of the conference and nation in stolen bases in Sean Hill, Zach Penprase, Corey Littleton, and Jeffrey Squire. In 2018, he successfully guided the Delta Devils back to the SWAC tournament for the first time since the 2012 season.

A native of Jackson, Mississippi, Stevens played at Lanier High School under Coach L.V. Donnell. After graduating he accepted a scholarship to Nicholls State University in Thibodaux Louisiana where he competed from 1984-88 as a third baseman under Colonels coach Mike Knight. During his career he led the team in home runs and doubles twice.

He resides in Canton Mississippi with his wife of 10 years Candace Carter Stevens and son Caleb.
