Leroy Frederick serves as the Assistant to the Head Coach and Tight Ends Coach for Mississippi Valley State football, bringing extensive collegiate coaching, operations and player development experience to The Valley.
Prior to joining Mississippi Valley State, Frederick served as the tight ends coach at Alcorn State. During his tenure with the Braves, he also spent three seasons coaching wide receivers and five seasons as director of football operations while serving as the program’s NFL liaison.
Frederick first joined the Alcorn State coaching staff in 2014 as wide receivers coach and helped guide the Braves to a Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) Championship and HBCU National Championship. He later returned to Alcorn and served as cornerbacks coach from 2018 through 2020, contributing to two additional SWAC championships and Celebration Bowl appearances. In 2021, Frederick transitioned back to the offensive side of the ball while continuing to assist with the program’s football operations.
Frederick also served as offensive coordinator and wide receivers coach at Stillman College in 2015. Under his direction, the Tigers produced one of the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference’s top passing attacks, ranking second in the SIAC in passing offense while featuring the conference’s second-leading receiver.
Earlier in his career, Frederick coached at Pearl River Community College from 2007 to 2011, where he mentored multiple All-Americans and helped develop four receivers who recorded more than 40 receptions in a season. From 2004 to 2007, he coached at Hutchinson Community College, where he helped the program capture a Heart of Texas Bowl victory.
Frederick began his collegiate coaching career in 2001 at Fort Scott Community College, serving as wide receivers coach and pass game coordinator. During his time at Fort Scott, he coached six all-conference selections and a junior college All-American.
Before entering the coaching profession, Frederick competed professionally in both the Canadian Football League (CFL) and Arena Football League (AFL).
A native of Florida, Frederick resides in Mississippi with his wife, Pam, and their three children, Jalen, Alex and Angel.
