Jake A. Maggio serves as the Special Teams Analyst for the Mississippi Valley State University football program.
A native of Bridgewater, New Jersey, Maggio attended Bridgewater-Raritan High School, where he earned three varsity letters in football and was a four-time Iron Man Award recipient. He was named the 2018 Special Teams Player of the Year and was a three-year starter for back-to-back New Jersey Group 5 state runner-up teams. Maggio also received the Bill Denny Scholar-Athlete Award and earned Mid-State 38 Conference Division All-Star Honorable Mention recognition.
As a specialist, Maggio was nationally recognized as the No. 2 long snapper in New Jersey by Kohl’s Kicking. He was also a two-time Hammer Kicking Top 40 Specialist and received the Ray Guy Pro Kicker Top Prospect Award.
Maggio began his collegiate playing career at the University of Maine in 2019, where he spent his freshman season as a redshirt. He later continued his career at Citrus Community College in Glendora, California, under head coach Brandon Hayashi. At Citrus, Maggio served as the starting long snapper and was named Special Teams Player of the Week five times during the 2021 season.
While at Citrus, Maggio earned his Associate of Arts degree in Communication Studies, was named to the President’s List in the fall of 2021 and received the Scholar-Baller Award.
Following his time at Citrus, Maggio earned a scholarship to West Liberty University in West Virginia. During the 2022 season, he served as the Hilltoppers’ primary long snapper on field goals and extra points while also appearing on the kickoff coverage unit. Academically, he was named to the Dean’s List and the Mountain East Conference All-Academic Team.
Maggio graduated from West Liberty in May 2023 with a Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies. He earned a 3.9 GPA and graduated magna cum laude.
He played his final season of collegiate eligibility at South Carolina State University in 2024 under head coach Chennis Berry. Maggio contributed as a long snapper and was a member of South Carolina State’s 2024 MEAC Championship team.
Maggio began his coaching career at Presbyterian College in 2023 as a special teams intern, where he assisted in the development of freshman FCS All-American kicker Mack Mikko.
In 2025, Maggio served as the Special Teams Coordinator at Bound Brook High School in New Jersey. During his time with the program, three Bound Brook specialists earned all-conference honors.
Maggio continued his education at Alcorn State University, earning a Master of Science in Secondary Education with a concentration in NCAA Compliance in 2026.
Maggio is the son of John and Christina Maggio. His father served as the Athletic Director at Bridgewater-Raritan High School for 23 years, while his mother was a captain of the swimming team at Glassboro State University. He also has two sisters, Frances and Dena, who both competed in collegiate lacrosse.
