Will Vance is entering his second year as an assistant men's basketball coach at Mississippi Valley State University. Before MVSU, Vance coached at both the professional and high school levels.
Vance has over 30 years of basketball coaching experience dating back to his collegiate summer days working with kids at a recreation center located in Detroit, Mich. There he worked with several athletes that eventually played in the NBA.
Vance played high school basketball at Detroit Chadsey and L’anse Creuse North located in Macomb, Michigan.
Vance went on to play at Highland Park Community College, one of the top JUCO’S at that time and was awarded a scholarship to attend Sam Houston State University from 1987-89.
After college, Vance did an internship with Athletes In Action which was one of the top sports ministries in the world and played on their international team traveling nationally and internationally from 1997-2001.
In 2011, Vance joined the coaching staff at Southfield Christian High School where they went on to win five state championships in eight years. He went on to be a player development coach working with some of the top players in the country. The list included McDonald’s All Americans and NBA lottery picks.
In 2016, Vance served on the coaching staff with Shanxi Loongs a professional team in the CBA, the top league in China.
Vance is excited to begin a new chapter being named as one of the assistant coaches at Mississippi State Valley University.
