Angela Franke

Angela Franke is entering her second season as the head volleyball coach at Mississippi Valley State. The Phoenix, Ariz. native led the Devilettes to a 10-15 record in 2012 in her first year at the helm. Franke arrived at MVSU after serving as the head coach at St. Andrews University in North Carolina.

Prior to becoming a coach, Franke played volleyball at Mesa Community College and South Main Community College, before transferring to Jackson State. She completed her undergraduate coursework at Alcorn State and went on to pursue a master’s degree at her alma mater. While attaining her master’s, she was awarded a volleyball graduate assistantship which allowed her to gain valuable coaching experience.

Franke chose to give back to the community after earning her master’s degree by joining in the AmeriCorps in 2009 as a site coordinator in New Orleans. As a part of AmeriCorps, Franke served as a youth leader and helped develop a safe, inclusive environment for children to be active in sports and physical activity.

She holds a bachelor’s degree in interdisciplinary studies and a master’s in guidance education, both from Alcorn State.
