ITTA BENA -- The Mississippi Valley State cross country teams both placed first in the MVSU Invitational cross country meet on Saturday, Sept. 29.

Four MVSU women runners placed in the top 10, including Joyce Chumo who nabbed first place with a 18:10 finish. Winny Tanui (3rd, 18:59), Tamara Gillard (8th, 21:02) and Jovanna Peterson (10th, 21:38) also placed in the top 10.

On the men's side, it was MVSU's Victor Kiplagat (1st, 21:03) outpacing his teammate Daniel Kibet (2nd, 21:06) for first place. MVSU's Jose Serrano (3rd, 21:28) also placed third in the meet.

Juan Perez (6th, 22:36) also placed in the top 10 for Valley.
