CLINTON, Miss. - Mississippi Valley State men's cross country team captured the 2012 Southwestern Athletic Conference Cross Country Championship on Monday at the Watson Cross Country Course of Choctaw Trails.

It marked the third championship title for the Delta Devils including their second in the last three years.

MVSU had three top-five finishers scoring 38 points edging Prairie View A&M (40) by two points.

In the individual competition, MVSU's Daniel Kibet claimed the crown covering the 8K course in 25:44.75. Kibet, who was also selected the SWAC Cross Country Male Athlete of the Year, finished 32 seconds ahead of Prairie View A&M's Lucio Rosas (26:16.75).

4th - Felix Kiprop (26:35.88)
5th - Jose Serrano (26:37.31)
12th - Victory Kiplaget (27:13.51)
16th - Juan Perez (27:49.29)
43rd - Earl Winters (31:41.18)
51st - Vetch Sang (32:55.35)

MVSU's Danielle Douglas was tabbed Coach of the Year.
