Delta Devils to face Virginia Saturday on ESPN3

ITTA BENA -- The Mississippi Valley State men's basketball team will be at Virginia Saturday for a 4 p.m. EST tipoff on ESPN3.

The Delta Devils (0-4) haven't been in action since a Nov. 24 loss at LSU. Davon Usher led MVSU with 16 points and six rebounds while Blake Ralling had a career-high 15 points.

Virginia (7-2) is coming off a 46-38 win over Tennessee Wednesday night.

Usher ranked 20th in scoring in nation
MVSU junior guard Davon Usher is ranked 20th in the nation in points per game (20.8) and first in the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC). The Polk State College transfer has scored in double-figures in every game this season. He had a career-high 35 points earlier this season in a loss to Northwestern. Usher is also second on the team in rebounds (5.8).

Usher is ranked second in the SWAC in 3-point percentage at 51.9 percent.

MVSU is ranked first in the SWAC in three-point percentage, shooting 38.5 percent from behind the ach. The Delta Devils have made 30-of-78 three's.

Smith playing larger than his frame
At only 6-foot-4 and 181 pounds, Matt Smith is dominating the boards against some of the toughest competition in the nation. The freshman forward from Jackson, Tenn. is averaging 7.5 rebounds per game (second in the SWAC). He's also second in the conference in offense rebounds (3.8).

MVSU will be at Virginia Tech Monday at 7 p.m. EST. That game will also be broadcasted live on ESPN3.
