Box Score CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. -- Mississippi Valley State was held to just 19 percent shooting and the Virginia Cavaliers marched to a 67-39 victory over the Delta Devils Saturday in front of an announced crowd of 8,691.
MVSU (0-5) was led by Davon Usher with 14 points as he extended his double-digit scoring streak to five games. He finished 5-of-18 and had a game-high six rebounds.
Virginia (8-2) led 36-22 at halftime. The Cavaliers shot 50 percent on the night and had three double-digit scorers with Akil Mitchell leading the way with 20 points.
Darius Tomlin had a career-high 10 points and six rebounds off the bench for Valley while Blake Ralling chipped in seven points.
Virginia outscored the Delta Devils 48-14 in the paint.
MVSU will be back in action Monday at 7 p.m. EST at Virginia Tech. The game will be broadcasted live on ESPN3.com.
