ITTA BENA -- Mississippi Valley State has been a tough matchup for nearly every team they've played this season.
But they've been extremely hard to beat at home. So difficult that no opposing team has left the Harrison HPER Complex all season.
The Devilettes (14-2, 11-4 SWAC) defeated Texas Southern 82-48 Monday night to finish the season with a perfect 11-0 home record. With the win, thanks to a Southern loss, Valley also now holds sole possession of first place in the SWAC.
MVSU's 11-0 home record is now etched in the school's record books. The win also strengthens the Devilettes' chances of receiving a first-round bye in the SWAC Tournament, which tips off March 6 in Garland, Texas at the Special Events Center.
De'Kisha Fondon hit seven of 11 shots and led MVSU with 17 points and five steals. Alia Frank added 11 points while Khristina Clemons chipped in 10 points off the bench. All 13 Devilettes got on the scoreboard.
Kayla West was the lone TSU (4-21, 2-12 SWAC) player in double-figures with 10 points.
The Lady Tigers never had a chance in this one, as the Devilettes led the entire game. Valley was up 55-23 at halftime.
MVSU hit 30 of its 54 shots (55.6 percent) and hits nine of 17 three-pointers. They also went 13 of 16 (81.3 percent) from the free throw line.
