Devilettes stay on course, win fifth straight


ITTA BENA -- The Devilettes of Mississippi Valley State continued their dominance in conference competition on Monday night following a 73-44 thumping of Alabama A&M at the Harrison HPER Complex.

The win marks the fifth straight for the Devilettes (12-10, 9-2 SWAC), who are at the top of the SWAC standings.

Khristina Clemons came off the bench to led MVSU with 15 points while Alia Frank had 11. Davina Jefferson chipped in 10 for the Devilettes, which shot 41 percent on the night.

Whiquitta Tobar led the Lady Bulldogs (11-10, 6-5 SWAC) with 13 points while Nadra Robertson put up 12.

MVSU led 38-20 at halftime and cruised to the victory, outscoring Alabama A&M 35-24 in the second half. Valley's bench play proved to be the difference; they outscored the Lady Bulldogs' bench 41-4.

The Devilettes will travel to face Alcorn State on Saturday for a 2 p.m. tipoff.
