PINE BLUFF, Ark. -- The Mississippi Valley State Devilettes ended the regular season Thursday night with a 65-47 win over the Golden Lions of Arkansas-Pine Bluff.
The win gives the Devilettes (17-12, 14-4 SWAC) the outright SWAC title. MVSU, who has locked up the No. 1 seed in next week's SWAC Tournament, will face either Texas Southern or Arkansas-Pine Bluff on Wednesday, March 7, in Garland, Texas at the Special Events Center.
It marks the Devilettes' first regular season title since the 1987-88 season.
"I'm so proud of this team," said MVSU head coach Nate Kilbert. "They put together a great effort and we have to keep it going in the tournament."
Lenise Stallings led Valley with 17 points on Monday while De'Kisha Fondon and Brittney Lakes chipped in 11 points each. Alia Frank contributed nine points and six rebounds.
No UAPB players scored in double-figures. Jenise Gentry led the Golden Lions with nine points.
