ITTA BENA -- Mississippi Valley State head men's basketball coach Chico Potts got a chance to see his new team in action for the first time Wednesday night, as the Delta Devils played their final game at the Harrison HPER Complex before its upcoming renovation.
Mississippi Delta Community College transfer Anthony McDonald stole the show, scorching the Victory University with 31 points to lead the Delta Devils to a 112-78 win. The Aberdeen, Miss. native made 6-of-13 three-pointers and finished 12-of-21 from the field.
Valley scored 60 first half points thanks to their high-powered offense led by McDonald along with another pair of fresh face Delta Devils, Jordan Washington (18 points) and DeAngelo Priar (16 points). Priar, a Tchula native, also led MVSU with nine rebounds.
Darryl Marshall added 14 points and four assists for the Delta Devils, who now get set to play in their final exhibition game Nov. 4 at Delta State at 7:30 p.m.
Valley shot 58.3 percent from the field, including 60 percent in the first half.
Marico Stinson and Marko Starovic paced the Eagles with 21 points apiece.
