Delta Devils blow out Tigers, 108-48, in home opener

Box Score GREENWOOD, Miss. -- In its first game in its new temporary home, the Mississippi Valley State men's basketball team did not disappoint its fans.

The Delta Devils (1-2) defeated visiting Champion Baptist, 108-48, at the Leflore County Civic Center to secure its first win of the season.

Five MVSU players scored in double-figures with DeAngelo Priar leading the way with 18 points for the Delta Devils, who shot 58.7 percent from the field. Daniel Hurtt added 16 points and eight rebounds while Jordan Washington chipped in 14 points off the bench.

Valley caused 30 Tiger turnovers and forced Champion to shoot just 32 percent from the field. The Delta Devils beat out Champion on the boards, 47-27.

MVSU led 60-26 at halftime and outscored the Tigers 48-22 in the second half.

A total of 12 out of 13 Valley players scored with Blake Ralling chipping in seven points and 12 rebounds off the bench.

MVSU will be off until Tuesday when they travel to face Mississippi State at 7 p.m.
