ITTA BENA -- Mississippi Valley State avoided a series sweep Saturday after a 78-64 thumping of rival Jackson State at the Harrison HPER Complex.
Alia Frank led all scorers with 15 points while Jasmyne Sanders chipped in 14 off the bench for the Devilettes, who rebounded from its loss to Texas Southern on Feb. 18.
Joncyee Sanders and Khristina Clemons added 12 points apiece for MVSU (14-13, 11-5 SWAC).
Demara Howard was one of four JSU players to score in double figures with 14 points. Tiffany Kellum and Ekwara Ndongo chipped in 12 points each while Ayanna Hardy-Fuller put up 10 points and 10 rebounds.
MVSU shot 47.2 percent and made 23 of 27 free throws.
The Devilettes will be at home Monday at 5:30 p.m. against Grambling State.
