Devilettes rout Lady Braves, claim fourth straight victory

ITTA BENA -- The Mississippi Valley State women's basketball team won its fourth straight game Saturday using a 65-57 victory over Alcorn State at the Harrison HPER Complex. 

A'Shanti Weathers led the Devilettes (11-12, 8-4 SWAC) with a career-high 15 points and MVSU out-rebounded the Lady Braves (1-20, 1-11 SWAC) in its eighth straight loss. 

Alia Frank had 16 points for Valley while Joncyee Sanders chipped in 10 points and seven assists for a Devilette team that shot 42.9 percent from the field. 

Carolinsia Crumbly paced the Lady Braves with 14 points while Renelle Richmond added 11. Alcorn shot 37.7 percent and went 16 of 23 from the free throw line. 

Valley led 30-28 at halftime and outscored the Lady Braves 37-27 in the second half. 

MVSU will host Southern University at 5:30 p.m.
