JACKSON – It was a good day for the Mississippi Valley State men's cross country team Saturday at the Martin Epps Invitational, hosted by Jackson State University.

As a team, MVSU finished second among the nine competing teams with a total time of 2:25:45.89 and an average time of 29:09.18.

MVSU individual runners took both the first and second spot, with Daniel Kibet claiming the top with a time of 27:02.59 in the 8k run. Valley's Felix Kiprop finished second with a 27:19.93 time.

Jose Serrano also finished in the top 10, claiming the No. 9 spot with a time of 28:28.83.

Meanwhile, Romello Nalepa finished 15^th with a time of 29:16.07, Theodore Johnson came in at 39^th with a time of 33:38.47 and Juan Perez at 44^th with a time of 34:44.39.

MVSU will be at a meet hosted by Louisiana Tech Saturday.
