Box Score GREENWOOD, Miss. -- The Mississippi Valley State women's basketball team suffered its first conference loss Wednesday in a 76-67 defeat to Southern University at the Leflore County Civic Center.Â
Ashley Beals, who had 17 first half points, finished with 20 for MVSU (5-11, 4-1 SWAC) while Joncyee Sanders chipped in 17. Jasmyne Sanders added 14 points.Â
Kendra Coleman led Southern (9-5, 6-0 SWAC) with 20 points.Â
Valley shot 39.3 percent and made 16 of 25 free throw attempts.Â
MVSU will be at Texas Southern on Saturday for a 3 p.m. tipoff. The Devilettes return home Feb. 1 when they host rival Jackson State at the Leflore County Civic Center.Â
