ITTA BENA, Miss. -- The Mississippi Valley State women's volleyball team suffered a 3-0 loss to Alcorn State Tuesday night at the Charles Lackey Recreational Center.
The Lady Braves defeated the Devilettes in straight sets: 25-20, 25-22, 25-20.
MVSU's Halle Gayten led the team with nine kills while Halee Clark chipped in four. Bianca Watkins filled in for Alexandria Garland and had a career-high 16 assists. Gayten and Steffi Rodriguez combined for 23 digs as the Devilettes dropped to 2-17, 0-14 SWAC.
Cynthia Richardson contributed two blocks for Valley.
MVSU will be back in action on Friday and Saturday at a tournament at Southern University in Baton Rouge, La.
