BLOOMINGTON, Ind. -- In the second-ever meeting between Mississippi Valley State and Indiana University, the Hoosiers ran off with a 116-65 victory over the Delta Devils in the season-opening game for both teams. 

In the first game under new head coach Andre Payne, MVSU managed to sink a couple buckets early to stay within striking distance of the Hoosiers. But, Indiana streaked out to a comanding 54-31 halftime lead, making 72 percent of its shots in the first half.

Indiana stayed hot in the second half, scoring 62 points in the final 20 minutes en route to the victory.

Playing in his home state for the first time of his career, MVSU point guard Tyler Corley finished with nine points on 3-of-14 shooting. Jordan Washington led the team with 17 points on 8-of-14 attempts while DeAngelo Priar chipped in 11 points and a team-high five rebounds.

As a team, Valley shot 34.2 percent and made 10-of-21 free throws. Indiana beat the Delta Devils in rebounding category 53 to 26.

MVSU will be back on the road at Mississippi State on Monday night at 7 p.m.
