Devilettes burn Lady Bulldogs, win second straight

GREENWOOD, Miss. -- Things seem to be getting back on track for the Mississippi Valley State women's basketball team. 
The Devilettes (7-15, 6-5 SWAC) won their second consecutive game Monday night with a 68-56 victory over Alabama A&M. 
Three MVSU players scored in double-figures with Jasmyne Sanders leading the way with 14 points. A'Shanti Weathers chipped in 12 points and six rebounds while Ashley Beals contributed 10 points. 

"We played well tonight despite some costly turnovers," said MVSU head coach Elvis Robinson. "I'm proud of the way our team has responded over the last couple games and we just need to keep things going in the right direction."
MVSU led 29-28 at halftime and took control of the game in the second half. The Devilettes extended its lead to 43-33 with under 14 minutes left after DeRita Silas converted a jumper.  MVSU went up a game-high 14 points, 48-34, with under 12 minutes on the clock after a Chelsea Mabry layup. 

Joncyee Sanders had a game-high eight assists for the Devilettes, who shot 61 percent on the night. 
Brittney Stricked paced the Lady Bulldogs (3-18, 1-10 SWAC) with 12 points. 
MVSU will be host Alcorn State Saturday at 3 p.m. at the Washington County Convention Center in Greenville. ?
