Box Score GREENWOOD, Miss. -- Mississippi Valley State needed a win Saturday to get back on track on its quest for a SWAC championship.
And they did exactly that.
The Devilettes clipped visiting Alabama State 55-46 at the Leflore County Civic Center to end a five-game losing streak.
Seven of nine Valley (6-15, 5-5 SWAC) players that saw action got on the scoreboard to help MVSU secure its second win over the Lady Hornets this season.
Joncyee and Jasmyne Sanders led Valley with 11 points each. Brittney Wright and Daniele Ewert paced the Lady Hornets with 12 apiece.
MVSU climbed back from a 26-22 halftime deficit and put the clamps on ASU in the second half. The Lady Hornets made just 25 percent of its shots in the second half.
The Devilettes, meanwhile, found its shooting stroke -- converting on 52 percent of its shots in the second half.
Chelsea Mabry played a big role for Valley off the bench, scoring a career-high six points on 3-of-7 shots.
MVSU will be back at home Monday hosting Alabama A&M at 5:30 p.m.
