ITTA BENA, Miss. -- The Mississippi Valley State volleyball team entered Saturday's game against Grambling State in need of a win in order to get its season back on track.
And the Devilettes did exactly that.
MVSU swept the visiting Lady Tigers, 3-0, at the Charles Lackey Recreational Center to earn its second win of the season against a SWAC opponent.
GSU put up a fight in the first set, but the Devilettes won 25-23 and MVSU easily put away the Lady Tigers in the second and third sets, 25-12 and 25-18, respectively.
The Devilettes had its best performances of the season, finishing with a team hitting percentage of .233. Halle Gayten and Ilashia Hale each finished with nine kills each while Halee Clark and Kayondra Hood chipped in seven each.
Valley had five service aces with Gayten and Clark accounting for two each.
MVSU will be back at home Friday, Oct. 3 against rival Prairie View A&M at 4:30 p.m.
