ITTA BENA, Miss. --- The Mississippi Valley State University Delta Devils dropped a 45-6 decision to the Panthers of Prairie View A & M University.
Mississippi Valley found the end zone in the third quarter (7:37) on a 75-yard touchdown run by Jerrell Moore, Ruben Piraquive's extra point was blocked.
The Panthers scored seven in the first six minutes of the contest, before finding the end zone again in the second at the 10:25 mark. PVAMU scored again on a pass from 20-yards out with 1:51 remaining in the half. While time expired in the half, Prairie View placed a 39-yard field goal to take the score to 24-0, going into the locker room.
PVAMU score first in the third at the 7:49 mark. The Panthers scored again with 2:30 remaining in the quarter. For the second time in the contest, Prairie View scored as time expired on a 14-yard touchdown run.
Thurstin Rubin, Jr. went 8-17-86 for the night, while Dontrinell Scott connected on five of 10 passes for 30-yards.
Moore paced the Delta Devils with 93 net rushing yards on four carries. Terrence Barron led MVSU in receiving with 65-yards on four receptions.
Defensively, Mark Pegues tallied nine total tackles (3 solo and six assists) to lead Mississippi Valley.
On October 17 the Delta Devils return for their 2015 Homecoming to face Texas Southern University at 2:00 p.m.
