Jacksonville, Ala. - The Delta Devils of Mississippi Valley State University dropped a 49-7 decision to the, number one ranked, Gamecocks of Jacksonville State University.
Jacksonville State put up 14 points in the first quarter. Thurston Rubin, Jr. ran into the end zone from 29-yards out, Ruben Piraquive split the uprights for the extra point. The Gamecocks recorded three touchdowns in the second; going into halftime the score was 35-7.
Scoring wrapped in the third with two additional end zone trips by Jacksonville State.
Rubin went 10-19-105 for the night, while Dontrinell Scott connected on two of three passes for 21-yards.
Gregory Foster paced the Delta Devils with 56 net rushing yards on 10 carries. Terrence Barron led MVSU in receiving with 44-yards on three receptions.
Defensively, Lardelin Cheatam tallied nine total tackles (3 solo and six assists) to lead the Mississippi Valley.
On October 10 the Delta Devils will travel to Prairie View, Texas, to face Prairie View A & M University at 1 p.m.
