Las Cruces, N.M. - The Mississippi Valley State Delta Devils team dropped their contest to New Mexico State 85-46, on the road.
MVSU was unable to gain any traction during the first half, only scoring 26-points, while NMSU tallied 49. Damian Young paced the Delta Devils' offensive effort with six points in the opening half.
The second half continued in the same manner as the first, with Mississippi Valley seeking to find their footing in the contest. Being held to 20-points was painful but the Delta Devils were able to slow down New Mexico's scoring, holding them to 36-points.
Rashaan Surles led Mississippi Valley with nine points, seven rebounds, one block and one steal. Isaac Williams and Young finished with six points each.
Head Coach Andre Payne stated, "New Mexico State's size played a huge factor in our lost and dropping that close one to Air Force, we exerted so much energy and it showed tonight. Now it's about regrouping and getting ready physically and mentally for Grand Canyon."
