Delta Devils Fall Short Against Seattle

Seattle, Wash. – Three Delta Devils tallied double-digit points to pace Mississippi Valley in their 84-72 loss, to the Redhawks of Seattle University.

The opening half of competition was an inferno of action with both teams going back and forth. The Redhawks were able to gain an edge by scoring several unanswered points, taking a 35-32 lead into the locker rooms.
 
Marcus Romain scored 11-points to lead the Delta Devils' offensive unit during the first half of play. He also tallied five defensive rebounds, to steer the MVSU defense. Damian Young scored eight points, six of which were beyond the three-point line.
 
Young, more than doubled his efforts in the second half, leading the team with 14-points, while Latrell Love added 12. Romain pulled down five rebounds (one offensive and four defensive) to lead the defensive charge for the Delta Devils in the final half of play.
 
"We need to remain positive, stay together, and remain committed to the team and what the coaches are teaching," said Romain.
 
Young tallied 22-points, six steals, two blocks, three rebounds and one assist to pace Mississippi Valley. Romain finished with a double-double consisting of 17-points, 10 rebounds, four assists, one block and one steal. Love added 14-points to keep the Delta Devils in the contest. 
 
Mississippi Valley shot 39.4 percent (26-of-66) from the field, including 9-of-25 from behind the three-point line, and 61.1 percent (11-of-18) from the free throw line.

Jack Crook and Manroop Clair each finished with 22-points to lead the Redhawks of Settle into victory.

Head Coach Andre Payne stated, "We need to get home and practice on finishing games. We are competing; we just have to find that final touch. It will come as long as we stay mentally tough."
