ITTA BENA, Miss. - The Delta Devils of Mississippi Valley State University fell 45-15 to the Hornets of Alabama State University.

The Hornets put up 14 points in the opening quarter. Ruben Piraquive scored a 35-yard field goal to give the Delta Devils three-points. The Hornets were able to respond with a 21-yard field goal of their own, taking the score to 17-3 going into halftime.

During the third, both Mississippi Valley and Alabama State found the end zone. The Hornets scored first in the second on a seven play, 64-yard drive. MVSU responded with three play, four yard touchdown drive. Booker T. Chambers found the end zone on a four-yard dash, the two-point conversion failed.
In the fourth, ASU scored three touchdowns, while MVSU was held to a 14-yard touchdown reception by Chambers.

Thurston connected on seven of 16 attempts for 100 yards and one touchdown. Â Quantavius Peterson finished the night 13-23 for 61 yards and Dontrinell Scott threw for 23 yards on two of four attempts.
The Delta Devils will be back in action on October 3, when they travel to Jacksonville, Alabama, to take on Jacksonville State University. Kickoff is set for 1:00 p.m.
