KENT, Ohio – Mississippi Valley State traveled to Kent, Ohio, to face the Golden Flashes of Kent State University. The Delta Devils mustered up an offensive scheme, however the Flashes flashed in the second half, outpacing Mississippi Valley 93-63.
The first half, the point difference was only ten-points going into the halftime break, 31-41. With 7:54 remaining before the break, MVSU was able to tie the game at 24-all, after falling behind in double figures. With a free-throw by Isaac Williams, the Delta Devils held a one-point advantage. With 5:03 remaining, Rashaan Surles knotted the game at 29.
The Flashes quickly began to rebuild their lead, however the Delta Devils refused to stop fighting and they began to cut into their deficit. A three-point basket by Ronald Strother at the 16:12 mark cut the lead to 14-points.
Kent State was able to go up by as many as 36-points; Mississippi Valley rallied and ended the contest down 30-points.
Williams paced MVSU with 17-points. Surles tallied 10-points, three-points, one assist, one block and one steal. Marcus Romain continued his hot streak with nine-points, three rebounds and three assists.
Darrell Riley totaled five points, four assists and two rebounds.
