MOREHEAD, Miss. – The Mississippi Valley State Delta Devils rumbled on the hardwood with the Southwestern Athletic Conference number one seed, Texas Southern, losing the contest 98-67.
In the opening half, Texas Southern outpaced Mississippi Valley 48-33. MVSU's bench outpaced TSU's bench 16-14 in the first 20 minutes and 20-13 in the final minutes. The Tigers were able to maintain the edge with points in the paint in both halves, with 18-10 in the first and 20-14 in the second.
Texas Southern scored 11 points per period on turnovers while Mississippi Valley only scored six (four in the first and two in the second).
Marcus Romain tallied 23-points, four rebounds, three assists and one steal to drive the Delta Devils' offense. Isaac Williams' 20-points, three rebounds, one assist and one steal was also a major force for the Mississippi Valley.
The Delta Devils will host the Panthers of Prairie View A & M on Monday, February 22, 2016 at 7:30 pm in Greenwood, Miss.
