LITTLE ROCK – The Delta Devils of Mississippi Valley State University baseball team traveled to Little Rock, Arkansas, to go to war with the Trojans of the University of Arkansas – Little Rock, however their siege was unsuccessful as they fell 20-3.
Little Rock started scoring early in the contest, with three runs tallied in the first inning. They pulled further ahead with six more runs in the second, one in the third, two more in the seventh, before wrapping in the eighth with five.
Mississippi Valley went scoreless for much of the contest, however they didn't relinquish the shutout the Trojans were expecting, scoring two runs in the eighth and one in the ninth.
In the eighth, Cole Gullette doubled down the right field line to score Edward Cox and advance Arrington Smith to third. Justin Neese put forth an effort with a sacrifice fly to left field to score Smith.
In the ninth, Fredrick Spencer, II singled down the left side to score Chris McWright.
Mississippi Valley tallied seven hits and three errors in the contest. Little Rock finished with 20 hits and one errors.
Connor Sheppeard took the loss for Mississippi Valley on the mound.
